Finding Purpose Through Welding: Stan’s Story

Before Stan found an audience online, before coworkers began telling him that his welds were worth sharing, there was a welding machine in his father’s backyard.

His father was a boilermaker, and welding was part of daily life. After school, Stan would watch, practice, and slowly learn the craft for himself. What began as time spent around his father’s work became a skill he carried with him into adulthood.

Life did not always move in a straight line. Stan faced difficult moments and eventually made the decision to leave New Jersey for Florida and start again. He arrived with welding experience, determination, and the immediate need to find work.

He went door to door asking for an opportunity.

When a welding role became available, Stan took the test and let his work speak for itself. His skill led him to demanding projects, including marine exhaust work for vessels where precision matters. The people around him noticed the quality of his welds and kept encouraging him to share them online.

At first, Instagram was not part of the plan. But after posting a few welding videos and photos, Stan began hearing from younger welders who were inspired by his work. Those messages changed the way he saw his craft.

Welding was no longer only a job. It became a way to connect, teach, and give back.

Today, Stan’s story is a reminder that purpose is not always found all at once. Sometimes it begins with learning a skill, showing up for the next opportunity, and continuing to improve when no one is watching.

For welders, builders, and makers, the work is more than what is left behind in metal. It is the pride of doing the job well, the confidence built through practice, and the chance to help someone else find their own way forward.
